I have made $100 for single coaching sessions or monthly packages about 30 times over the last year.
That is 3K from 30 hours of work!
When I began coaching, I would make anywhere from $50 at the lowest end, and $75 at the highest end. In 2019 when I realized I had a business, I began to charge $100 a session.
I still give certain clients deals if they can’t afford $100 sessions.
My general opening offer is $400 a month for 4 sessions in a month.
The most profitable coaches are not always the best coaches. To tell you the truth my coaching skills are strong, but there is still room to improve my game. My specialty is my lead conversion rate.
When I had job interviews, I almost always got the job offer. Coaching has been similar for me in that respect.
Coaching is a process where client selection is paramount. Never take on a client who you aren’t 100% sure you can help.
You must understand who you are serving.
My Story
In 2018 I started getting paid to coach.
My first 10 years of the journey involved 8 hour days reading about success and business. You must be willing to put in the time to study up front. I spent years doing this to understand the nature of success. The learning never stops. Self-education will make you way more money than school.
I have Asperger Syndrome.
Since 2006, I have spent 15 years doing many things to rise above autism. I firmly believe autism is something you can rise-above.
Overcoming Asperger’s has little to do with the hand you are dealt. It has way more to do with lifestyle and learning. You can play any set of cards well and still win. Never count yourself out.
I overcame autism about 10 years ago while in Army Cadets and at that time I started playing sports. From there I learned how to make friends. I teach my clients the importance of sports to develop masculinity.
In 2012 I had a spiritual awakening, and I ended up in hospital because the experience was too much for me to deal with as an 18 year old. 4 years later I integrated my realizations. Now after enlightenment I chop wood and carry water as they say. You learn about one-ness and then get on with your life.
This enlightenment experience was the result of hours of meditation and hard study from 2010 onwards. I would study the nature of reality for fun and learn along the way.
I realized in 2012 that the universe is perfect because life is a grand design.
Nothing ever happens by mistake. When you are awakened you are better off not trying to tell other people about it. People will think you are nuts.
After my awakening came depression. Later I was diagnosed with clinical depression and bipolar.
The thing that inspired me to coach in the first place was my interest in helping other people spiritually.
I love talking about the nature of reality.
I looked for clients and I didn’t want to be just any coach.
The importance of Niche
Since I have Asperger’s I used that as my niche, I had a lot of social success in the last decade, and I am now a very likeable person.
I went to many therapy groups over the last 7 years and was able to give insights to other members of my group. This inspired me to be generous and help others more.
In 2018 I gave coaching a real shot.
To make 100 dollars an hour, decide who you want to coach.
“If you try and become everything for everyone, you will become nobody for nobody.”
Life coaches are the people who don’t sell coaching.
But a mindset coach for men with Autism will sell lots of coaching.
This is because I have niched down.
I have tried to be a regular vanilla life coach with no success.
The Clients Pain Points
I know what my ideal clients need.
People with autism need more confidence to gain social exposure. Since all success depends on other people this is key. I help my clients with negative thoughts and anxiety towards social situations.
I understand what my ideal clients need.
The reason I charge 100 bucks is because I can solve a 100 dollar problem.
There are coaches that make $1000 an hour because they can help an entrepreneur double their income through sales training for example.
Making money comes down to value in = value out.
If you want money, solve a major issue.
I can help a depressed person find hope, also helping a socially awkward person make more friends. I help people think more positively.
You are an Expert
You are already an expert in some area, I suggest soul-searching to figure out where you already have experience you can use to help others.
You don’t have to get experience to do something later. Use an area where you are already experienced. If you are 26 like me, chances are you have spent your life doing something where you can teach other people.
Pick a problem to solve that you have already solved yourself.
Your life doesn’t have to be perfect; you can have flaws and still make 100 bucks an hour coaching.
Niche down and select areas that you excel in.
I’m not perfect.
But I am great when it comes to helping people with autism overcome their adversity. I can say that because I have done that.
The Importance of Lead Generation and Closing
I’m an amazing closer, but I still need to learn to generate leads. Once I have a lead, I can convert the lead to a paying client because I understand how to sell. Every person who owns a business should try working in a sales job.
I worked selling gym memberships in 2016, the training was very good and I use it today to help clients commit to coaching.
Understand that if you have a client in front of you, assume the sale.
They are there for a reason.
I did a speech in 2018 for autism and landed my first real client right after I spoke.
Get yourself out there and network.
I’m not just talking about networking events at happy hour. Call organizations to get speaking engagements and write about your story. Everyone needs to get themselves out there to generate the leads to sell coaching.
My lead to sale rate is very-good.
It’s good because I’m a great listener and I figure out the client’s pain point. Solve specific challenges for your clients.
Closing
To understand how to make 100 bucks an hour coaching, first find out what you do well.
Make your niche around that area. Decide how you will tell the world about your business. Think about where your clients hang out, where they get other services and use the power of referral. Get speaking gigs and write online.
When you have a lead in front of you, assume the sale and always ask for the sale at the end. Offer a free consult for 15-30 minutes in your ads to evaluate your prospect.
Maybe you should start with 50 bucks a session, if you are always closing leads at that price, experiment with a higher price.
Remember, success is not all about money. You must have a way of helping your clients, use what you are already good at.
Focus on your competence and helping your client, don’t worry about your credentials.
Until next time,
Angus Baynham-McColl
